Onboarding tasks for Financial Planning and Close & Consolidation
Disclosure Management is a cloud-native disclosure management platform designed for preparing, managing, and submitting regulatory filings and financial disclosures. It integrates directly with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint via Office add-ins and uses SharePoint as its underlying document store. This next-generation disclosure management solution supports end-to-end narrative reporting workflows and includes built-in XBRL tagging capabilities to help ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
Task 1: Explore the home page
The Home Page is the main dashboard after login, organized around streamlined business process navigation.
The Home Page contains the following elements:
- Explorer (left sidebar) - Categorized process components in Drive, Modelling, Governance, and Search sections
- Overview - User's assigned activities and tasks
- Favorites - Quick-access bookmarked pages
- Activities - Tree-structured view of cycles and activities
- Header - System tools (notifications, help, workspace controls) and action-specific options
- Page Details - Main content area showing selected object information
The layout supports both configuration tasks (Drive, Modelling, Governance) and day-to-day work (activities, tasks), with context-sensitive headers and actions based on what you select.
Task 2: Tour the workplace explorer
The Workspace Explorer is the primary navigation panel for accessing workspace objects. Populate it by creating objects under each module.
Switching Workspaces - Click the Workspace User icon, select Switch Workspace, navigate to your desired workspace, and confirm.
-
The Space Explorer organizes workspace components into:
- Process - Defines and manages business processes
- App - Builds application components and configurations
- Data Hub - Manages master data and data integration
- Governance - Controls security, monitoring, and connections
- Admin Central - Accesses workspace administration and user management
- Workspace Settings - Configures workspace-level options
Navigation Pattern: Select a module, click the plus (+) icon to expand components, select a component, and view its details in the Page Details area.
Task 3: Learn about processes
A Process is a consolidation of business scenarios, each defining a business outcome and the steps (inputs, reports, calculations) needed to achieve it. The system automatically generates data flows, models, and business rules based on these steps.
Understand processes
Organizational Structure
- Tasks - Individual units of work (manual or automated)
- Activities - Groups of tasks assigned to user groups
- Workflow - Sequence of activities orchestrating the business outcome
Four Core Purposes
- Business Reference Models - Adapt existing scenarios from 100+ reference models rather than building from scratch
- Scenario Management - Create, enhance, and manage scenarios with versioning and approval workflows
- Process Alignment - Share scenarios and rules with business users for consensus
- Activity Flow - Use the workflow designer to orchestrate tasks and activities, then publish for execution

Task 4: Create snippets
Snippets are interactive, real-time data presentations that allow users to view, input, filter, and share data from Financial Reporting and Close & Consolidation. They adapt dynamically to specific needs and support multiple purposes: data entry, visualizations (charts/graphs), report sharing, and offline access.
To create a snippet
- Select a sheet, standard model, or virtual model in the Explorer
- Click the Snippets icon and choose a type: Report, Visual, Input, Control, or OData
- Configure Name, Title, and Privacy settings
- Organize fields by dragging them to Rows, Columns, or Filters sections
- Apply member filters as needed (using Filter icons)
- Click Refresh to preview, then Publish
- For Visual snippets, convert between chart types and apply styling

Task 5: Understand sheets
Sheets are an adaptation of Excel sheets, accessible through the web platform. They provide a tabular format for capturing, displaying, and manipulating data using rows and columns, creating an environment familiar to Excel users.
To create a sheet
- Navigate to a functional area in the Explorer and click the plus icon to create a Sheet
- Add dimensions from the Fields pane and drag them to Rows, Columns, or Filters
- Configure selections (Context-based or Fixed Member) for each dimension
- Add calculated members by clicking the f(x) icon, defining formulas, and refreshing
- Enable consolidation rules from the Options section if needed
- Publish to save

Task 6: Implement the 365 or Google Sheets add-In
Extend the platform into Excel and Google Sheets for creating templates, entering data, and generating reports.
Excel Add-in:
- Install: Home > Add-ins > Get Add-ins > Search Microsoft Store
- Works on Desktop Excel 2016+, Microsoft 365, Online Excel; Windows and iOS
Google Sheets Add-in:
- Install: Google Workspace Marketplace > Search and Install
- Launch: Extensions > Financial Planning and Close & Consolidation > Sign in (username, ISW SSO, or non-ISW SSO)
Both add-ins eliminate Excel's limitations while preserving spreadsheet familiarity.
Task 7: Review language settings
If you are a workspace admin or workspace owner, you can enable multi-language functionality for your workspace.
To enable multi-language
- Navigate to Admin Central > Settings > Multi-Language Settings
- Enable Multi-Language, select primary language and additional languages
- Save
