User interface overview

This article provides a brief orientation to the Lineos interface for consolidation users. Detailed platform documentation is available in the Lineos application guide.

Interface layout

When you log in to Lineos, the screen is organized into these main areas:

Area	Location	Purpose
Level 1 header	Top of screen (blue band)	Workspace selector, user profile, help, event log, and the My Support portal. Click the Lineos logo to return to the landing page from anywhere in the application.
Work Space Explorer	Left panel	Your primary navigation panel for accessing all modules and objects. Click the four-cubes icon below the Level 1 header to open it.
Level 2 header	Below Level 1, above page content	Context-sensitive actions for the object selected in the Work Space Explorer. Actions and configuration tabs change based on what you have selected.
Page details	Center area	Configuration options, data, and details for the selected object.
Favorites panel	Right panel (landing page only)	Quick access to pages you have bookmarked.

Work Space Explorer

The Work Space Explorer organizes everything in your workspace into four main modules: Process, App, Governance, and Data Hub.

Process

The Process module manages the consolidation business process lifecycle — defining, monitoring, and executing the activities and tasks that make up your consolidation cycle.

Component	What it does
Scenario	Define and manage consolidation scenarios and cycle definitions.
Flow	View the full sequence of activities and tasks for the consolidation cycle.
Monitor	Group activities into cycles and monitor execution status across all entities, with visual completion indicators.
Scheduling details	Set up automatic schedules for calculation tasks within the process.

App

The App module is where you build and configure all consolidation components. Navigate to any component via App > [Functional Area] > [Component].

Component	What it does in consolidation
Sheets	Consolidation sheets are the primary workspace for collecting entity data and executing consolidation rules. Enabling Consolidate Data in Sheet unlocks all consolidation capabilities.
Rates	Exchange rate models store the rates used for currency conversion. Ownership models define the entity hierarchy, ownership percentages, and consolidation methods.
Rules	Define currency conversion rules, intercompany elimination rules, auto journal rules, auto mapping rules, and group consolidation rules.
Transactions	Journals, lists, tables, and mappings supporting consolidation adjustments — including manual journal entries and account mapping tables.
Models	Standard, virtual, and advanced models that define the consolidation data structure.
Workflow	Automated multi-step processing pipelines that orchestrate the consolidation cycle.

Governance

The Governance module controls security and access for your workspace.

Component	What it does
Permissions	Define and maintain user roles, authorizations, and data access.
Audit reports	Access event log and data log information for compliance and troubleshooting.

Data Hub

The Data Hub module manages master data and data integration — connecting Lineos to source systems and managing the data flows that bring entity financial data into the platform.

Component	What it does
Data management	Configure data connections and data flows, including data flow mapping configurations.
Master data	Maintain master data and dimension hierarchies that feed into consolidation models.
